Flights.

The international flight hubs in Spain are Madrid and Barcelona. Many connecting flights to Palma de Mallorca (PMI) are scheduled each day. These flights are  relatively expensive, and many competitors from the English speaking parts of the world may find the least expensive option is to fly via London and take an onward flight to Palma using a low cost airline.

Palma departures, from London Airports:

            BMI from London Heathrow

            Air Berlin from Stanstead

Easy Jet from  Gatwick and from Luton.

British Airways recently announced budget flights within Europe.

Iberia and Air Europa also fly from Heathrow.

Connecting flights from Madrid and Barcelona:

Iberia, Air Europa, Span Air and Air Berlin

Please note that Ryan Air does not fly to Palma.

From Northern Europe.

AirBerlin uses Palma as it’s Spanish hub. Anyone wishing to travel elsewhere in Spain or to other countries in Europe including Eastern Europe after the Mundial, may find this information useful. There is also a connecting service between Manchester and London Stanstead.

Aer Lingus flies from Dublin.

Departures from elsewhere in the UK.

Easy Jet from: Bristol, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Belfast.

Bmi Baby from Manchester and East Midlands.

Thomson flights only from Doncaster.

JET from Leeds /Bradford.

In order to ensure that seats are booked at cheaper prices, booking for any low cost airline should be done as soon as the schedules are announced.

Traditionally Mallorca has the change - over day on a Saturday. If holiday commitments allow some flexibility, it may be preferable to avoid traveling on a Saturday. Flights are cheaper mid-week.

Ferries.

From Barcelona on the Spanish mainland there is an overnight ferry service.  Discounts are being negotiated with both Acciona and Iscomar. There is a possibility of a discount on the Acciona ferry Soreye from Portsmouth to Bilbao but we need to know how many would choose that route. Please let us know. Also it would be useful to know what kind of car you will use for the tow as the price may depend on how big it is. It is 5-6 hours driving from Bilbao to Barcelona.  For the European Championship three years ago the process of securing this discount depended on the helm being registered to sail  in the Mundial before  submitting an application  to the Balearics Sailing Federation for the discount. We have been told that ferry prices will be announced in late February. This site will be updated when we have the price list.
