Puerto Pollensa is a popular holiday destination for families and has many accommodation options for visitors. There are inclusive resorts, hotels, and pension style hostals offering basic accommodation, but the vast majority is in self catering apartments of varying sizes. Many of these overlook the bay, and most are within walking/easy cycling distance from the RCNPP and marina. Villas and fincas ie country houses with pools are located on the fringe of the developed area, and further out in the country and most will require the use of a car.
It will be possible to sail here, and not need to hire a car. However there is no direct link by public transport from the airport to the Port. Buses connect the airport to Palma and bus/train is possible from there to Pollensa and the Port. Taxis are available. The tariff is posted clearly at the rank at the Airport. Car hire per week is not much more expensive the taxi round trip airport to Port. For those travelling together in a group by air it may be possible to hire a mini-bus for transfer from the airport.
The agencies listed below have a range of units, and many are willing to offer discounts for early booking to those who will be here for the Mundial. Some will soon have a dedicated column on their web page showing a selection of units which are in a good location for anyone sailing here..
It is advisable to note the following points when investigating accommodation:
In order to qualify for a discount, please identify yourself as a participant in the Mundial.
If planning to share accommodation with friends, it is advisable to check the number of bedrooms (dormoitorios) and bathrooms (banos) in any apartment/villa/finca. In some companies the numbers of people accommodated are quoted. This may mean that someone will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the sitting room.
Any property advertised as “front line” is immediately overlooking the sea. There may be a road between the property and the beach, so do check.
It is advisable to book as soon as possible, unless using a UK based agency which will be open during the Winter months. Many agencies/ hotels close from the end of October, and the staff are on holiday until March. The only way to book during the period November to March will be on the internet, and response times are likely to be rather slow due to staff holidays.
The contract for accommodation will be between yourself and the agency or owner of the property. Neither RCNPP, it’s staff, nor any member of the planning committee will accept contractual responsibility for any property on behalf of a competitor.
Please check the details of the unit carefully to ensure they are to your requirements, before committing funds.
It is regretted that the planning committee is unable to visit or vet individual properties.
